Stages and outcomes
Every application has a stage. The stage is where that role sits in your search, and it is what the dashboard columns and the analytics funnel both use.
Open stages
| Stage | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Saved | You kept the posting and have not submitted. |
| Applied | You submitted an application. New captures start here. |
| Talking | You are in conversation — a recruiter reply, a screen being scheduled, back-and-forth that is not yet a formal interview loop. |
| Interviewing | Interviews are underway. |
| Onsite | An onsite loop, or the equivalent final round. |
| Offered | You have an offer. |
Priority stars are separate from stage. A role can be Applied and still be your top priority, or Offered and low priority if you are not going to take it.
Who moves the stage
Three things can change it:
- You, by dragging a card on the dashboard or editing the application.
- A forwarded email, when AI Review confirms an interview, an offer, a rejection, or a general update that implies a new stage.
- The product itself, when an event you already confirmed implies the next stage.
A drag on the dashboard writes a stage override. The override wins over the stage that would otherwise be derived from events. Use an override when you know the column is wrong. When you want events to drive the column again, clear the override on the application.
Closing a search
An application is closed with one reason:
| Reason | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Rejected | The company passed. |
| Withdrawn | You pulled out. |
| Declined | You turned down an offer or a next step. |
Closed applications stay in your account. They count under Closed on the dashboard, they drop out of the reminders banner, and they remain in analytics for the window you are looking at. Reopen one by clearing the closed reason if the role comes back.
Rejection mail does not close the job by itself
Forwarded rejection email becomes a suggestion in AI Review. The application closes when that suggestion is confirmed, or when you set the reason yourself.
